Safelight began as a folder of looks we built for our own jobs. Clients kept asking what we shot on, so we tidied the folder up and put a price on it.
Three shooters,
one shared folder.
We are a wedding photographer, a documentary cinematographer and a colourist who kept borrowing each other’s settings. In 2019 we started keeping them in one place, with notes on what each look needed from the camera.
Everything in the shop is still made that way. A look has to survive a real job, on a deadline, in bad light, before it gets a name. If it does not make our own work faster, it does not ship.
